Mayor of Destin, Mel Ponder recently visited the Destin Life Center and met with the movers and shakers in Destin Real Estate from brokers to home inspectors and shared his vision of how they could help build a better Destin. He opened his presentation with the trailer to the movie "The Miracle", where hockey coach legend Herb Brooks threads together a motley crew of fierce competitors into a unified force for the 1980 American Olympic team. Mayor Ponder mentioned that one of his favorite quotes in the movie was of Coach Brooks saying to his players, "the name on the front, has to be more important than the name on the back." He related this concept to all the different Realtors, brokers, bankers, title companies, out there, yes they are all in competition in one sense, but in another sense they are a all part of the "Destin family". WASHINGTON – May 9, 2014 – The market share of all-cash purchases is on the rise, despite declines in distressed sales and investor activity, according to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). The results spring from an analysis of data collected for the latest Realtors Confidence Index. Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, calls the findings counterintuitive.
