It was the early sixties when Bob and Tanya Staats purchased over 27 acres of undeveloped land in College Point in Lynn Haven. They cleared it and made pastures and built a home for their family and barns for their horses.
Beautiful land, beautiful horses. The Staats raised their three children, and Miss Tanya taught dressage, a French term meaning 'training'. Dressage is considered the most artistic of horse training and its roots go all the way back to ancient Greece.
From a young age, Miss Tanya always loved horses, and when she discovered the beauty and grace of dressage, she bought some 'warm bloods,' or middle-weight sport breed horses, and trained them at her horse farm. She bought her horses in Germany, trained them here, and sold them. She also employed a full-time caretaker for the horses and barns.
In the sixties life was simple, and living on a horse farm with plenty of room to run and explore was a great environment for the Staats' children.
They planted Sycamores and Crepe Myrtles, and Bob and Tanya taught their children the meaning of hard work and loving living things.
Because life is always changing, after many years, the beautiful property with the pastures and horses was sold. The children were grown and married, and Miss Tanya's beloved husband Bob had passed away. As Miss Tanya says – 'life is lived in chapters.' So it was time for a new chapter and a new story for not only Miss Tanya, but also her beloved land, where she could still hear her children's ringing laughter.
Now, Plantation at College Point is growing as a community that is "a thoughtfully planned and gated neighborhood." Brian Baber, who grew up just a half mile away, is the builder and Arthur Rutenberg Homes is the design collection they've chosen to showcase. There are a total of 60 lots ranging in size from a generous 1⁄4 to 1⁄2 acre.
In designing the space, the developer chose to keep many of the stately Sycamores and Crepe Myrtles that give the property more than welcome shade, but character and tranquility as well.
They have also reserved a large space dedicated to a playground and gathering area. On the south and west sides of the community are natural borders of trees and foliage to provide privacy and beauty.
There are about 20 different house designs from which to choose, ranging from 1,650 to about 3,000 square feet of living space, and multiple floor plans and exterior finishes. Arthur Rutenberg homes are widely known for quality and superior design, with many features that other builders would call 'upgrades' as part of their standard package.
Plantation at College Point is excited about their progress – they have the roads in and the LED street lamps are installed. And they're expecting the playground to be ready for their Grand Opening on November 15th.
Come out and tour the gorgeous model 'Summerdale', and take in the quality construction and special features that make these homes really exceptional.
