Beachy Beach Real Estate is proud to be a sponsor of the 10th Annual Duck Race, being held Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 5:30PM to 8:30PM, at
Laketown Wharf across from Pineapple Willy's. The Duck Race will feature live entertainment, a photo booth, a duck race between local celebrities and police and fire department, cuisine from area restaurants, silent auction and raffle prizes, and a chance to win $1,000. Proceeds will benefit Beach Care Services, a local charity helping beach families with emergencies and financial assistance.
Beach Care Services is a non-profit organization founded in 1999, which provides emergency assistance with rent, utilities, transportation, prescriptions, food, clothing, employment information, and other requests from families in a bind. Beach Care Services has their business expenses paid for by a benefactor, allowing 100% of all other donations to go directly for client needs. They are funded completely by contributions from local churches, businesses, individuals, and civic groups. Their entire office is staffed solely on volunteers. Last year Beach Care Services provided $118,500 in client services.
Clients like these are calling BCS an answer to their prayers,
Jonathan, a Veteran of the Iraq War... was sent home to have a portion of his foot amputated after developing diabetes. Jonathan was working 2 jobs to pay his rent, utilities, food, and medical bills, but after his surgery he was out of work for 10 weeks. His family helped tremendously, but they were tapped out. Beach Care Services paid part of his rent and medications, and referred him, to other agencies for continuing care until he could go back to work.
Patricia came to our office for help because she didn't have enough money to pay both rent and utility bills. She feared her and her two young children would become homeless. She was seasonally unemployed, her regular job wouldn't start for several more weeks, and she had been barely hanging on by taking whatever part time employment she could find. Beach Care Services paid for a portion of her rent, and referred her to other local agencies for assistance with her utility expenses. BCS also provided information about local food pantries, and an inexpensive prescription plan for her whole family.
Join us in helping Beach Care Services continue to shine light in the lives of locals who need emergency assistance like Jonathan and Patricia.
