Beachy Beach July Love Note
(Originally published July 29, 2014)
Dear BB's,
I am pretty sure you all know people that use complaining and moaning as a strategy to deal with life, but the truth is that it only leads to more whining, more moaning, and more of what you actually do not want. The more we focus a negative energy on any one thing, that one thing becomes leaden with a negative force and seems to take on a life of its own. So how do we stop that habit? The answer is to replace it with a new habit: one of proclaiming the good things and ignoring the bad. Unfortunately, our pessimism is contagious, but on the bright side (and that is ALWAYS my side!) the opposite is also true!!! If we are enthusiastic and share joy, then that is even more contagious.
There is a movement and a campaign called Outstand 2014 Campaign: Create a Complaint Free World. So in keeping with that, LET IT BEGIN with ME!!!! I have decided that Beachy Beach will be at the epicenter of creating a complaint-free world one person at a time.
According to the creators of this movement this is what a complaint-free workplace would look like: It means not complaining about your work, your 'incompetent' co-workers, or your unreasonable manager, not judging others, even if they are incompetent or at fault, and not agreeing to another person's complaints or allowing them to continually repeat their problems (this makes you an accessory to complaining). You are not even allowed to complain about the speed of your computer, or the weather, or your customers, or the traffic, or your Broker and her assistant!!!
Okay, this is where it gets down and dirty and personal for me. My issue at hand has been complaining about my weight and thus when I started complaining, (which does not burn calories at all) I weighed 120 pounds, 10 pounds over my healthy weight. I whined, I bitched, I moaned, and with each whine, I think I added another inch and another pound. Instead of helping, I inadvertently added more poundage with each complaint. The sad news is that I know better. I know that my attitude and belief in something becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I already have a GREAT attitude about most things and life in general. It is my nature to NOT complain and NOT judge, but as stated, I have this one area that I have neglected to put my belief systems into action. So with this new movement at Beachy Beach, it is time to wrestle that monster by proclaiming only what I want and not what I don't want.
So who is with me? Who wants to see how wonderful your life can be when you ditch the complaints and shout out how great life is? Shout out how great business is! Shout out how great your health is! Shout out all the things you are THANKFUL for! The fact is complaining does not work so why not do what all the wise people of old have told us and hold onto the thought…. " As a man thinketh so is he."
I am so thankful that I work in the sweetest place ever with the most precious people ever!! I am blessed more than I could ever imagine! I believe it can even get better if we throw our complaints to the curb. I have always felt that we at Beachy Beach are more than Realtors; we are here to make life sweeter and brighter for those we come in contact with. I hope that others in the community will join us so we can all be powerful together!
Excited to see you all tomorrow!!!
grateful and enthusiastic,
Karen
