Last Friday, March 7th, The Walk Hard team began their six-day, 125-mile hike from Troy, Alabama, to Panama City Beach, Florida, to support The Wounded Warrior Project.
Walk Hard originated in 2010 when two fraternity brothers of
Troy's Alpha Tau Omega, inspired by a man dressed as Superman carrying the American flag down the highway, set out to do something equally as unique and challenging. Since then, more brothers of Alpha Tau Omega have joined in on the effort to help raise awareness and funds for
The Wounded Warrior Project, a veterans service organization that supports wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of 9/11/2011.
Walk Hard is a project that one of our own Beachy Beachers,
Lacey Phillips, holds near and dear to her heart, for the ATO brothers of The Walk Hard Team are some of her closest friends who she says have always gone "above and beyond" to show her love and support through her college years at Troy University.
Last Wednesday, March 12th, Lacey, on behalf of Beachy Beach Real Estate, welcomed The Walk Hard Team at Pier Park with a check sponsoring their mission, as well as goodie bags filled with koozies, bandannas, soap, and much more.
Other special guests, such as Panama City Beach Mayor Gayle Oberst and Desert Storm Veteran Billy Williams, were there to welcome the ATO Walk Hard Team as they passed the finish line.
March 12, 2014, was officially declared "Walk Hard Day" by Mayor Gayle Oberst.
Beachy Beach Real Estate is so proud to support organizations such as these that are made up of people who want to be part of something bigger than themselves and who give back to others in need from the goodness of their hearts. We are also thankful to have a team of our own who lives out our mission to "give back" to the community.
