If you know anything about Hilary Farnum, one of our Beachy Beach 30A owners, you know she is a no-nonsense, hard-charging woman that gets deals done. She takes her commitment to her customers very seriously and exhibits a singleness of purpose that is undeniable. That singleness of purpose and accompanying passion has manifested itself in other realms of her life besides the world of 30A Real Estate, more specifically the local grassroots organization of Food for Thought Outreach.
On August 6th, Hilary and a couple hundred others witnessed the amazing work of the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation as they gave away nearly 1.4 Million to 14 local charities, one of which being first time check recipient, Food for Thought Outreach, who received a check for $40,000.
This moment was all the more sweet for Hilary because recently, along with her colleagues at Beachy Beach 30A and Destin Real Estate, they had made a long term commitment to support Food for Thought. "Seeing her receive that check, really hit me", Farnum says. And hit us it did, teary eyes were everywhere in the audience as non-profits like FFT shared their triumphs and gratitude. Farnum , inspired by the DCWAF check presentation to up her game, has stopped at nothing to tell everyone she can about Food for Thought's
mission to fight food insecurity among school children in our area.
Farnum recently sent this message below to her customer data base and asked her fellow owners to do the same to their collective reach to 30,000 local residents.
"Allow me to take a break from my normal real estate updates and take this opportunity to introduce an organization that Beachy Beach 30A has partnered with for the next few years, Food for Thought Outreach. As a mother of two kids who attend Walton County schools, I have learned first hand of an astonishing need to provide nutritional food to local children of low-income families.
Established by local mom, Tiffanie Shelton in 2010, when she saw the need to help 6 hungry kids in her own child's classroom, Food For Thought has grown to two counties and now helps feed over 500 local children by anonymously providing a backpack filled with nutritious food weekly. Making sure the children in our area are well nourished is the first step to helping them perform in school and thus pave the way for them to be our future leaders.
With that conviction in mind, a portion of every real estate closing with me and my agents at Beachy Beach 30A & Destin will go to help the efforts of Food for Thought here locally. We are lucky to live in such a beautiful area and feel it is our responsibility to pay it forward and bless the lives of others.
Next time you are on 30A, please stop by the Beachy Beach 30A office in Seagrove to say hi and pick up a complimentary Food For Thought grocery bag, where you will find their needs list printed conveniently on the side panel.
