Are you in Destin for the 4th of July?
If you've made it to Destin this year for the Forth of July celebrations, congratulate yourself because Destin has a lot to offer when itt comes to celebrating the best country in the world.
Things to consider:
Let's face it. Sitting in traffic is a lot less spectacular than the fireworks shows are going to be, so do your traveling early. Get to where you are wanting to go at least an hour early and relax, you'll enjoy the show all the more if you do so.
Depending on what side of town you are going to be on, there are two main shows that will be going on in Destin/Miramar Beach.
The Destin Harbor:
On the Destin Harbor, The Harborwalk Village/Emerald Grande will be hosting a spectacular fireworks display over the waters of the Destin pass. If you have the ability, Crab Island (actually a sunken island) is perhaps the best place to watch the fireworks, but to get there, you'll need a boat. If getting on a boat isn't an option, Harborwalk Village will have enough room for several thousand, or better yet, rent a condo facing west on Holiday Isle or along the harbor. For the most of us, walking down to the harbor will be our option of choice. A few good restaurants to post up and watch the fireworks are Harry T's, Tightlines, AJ's, Boshamps, and Harbor Docks.
Sandestin:
If you are staying in Sandestin, staying in Sandestin will be a treat for you, because Sandestin's fireworks display is one of the most impressive around. If you are in the Miramar Beach area or eastern Destin, consider Sandestin as your choice for the fourth fireworks. Sandestin will fill up early, so find your favorite spot and bring a cooler because many thousands will be flocking through the gates.
