Beach Report Nov 10th, 2011 Beach Renourishment

It was a chilly day last week when I stopped down at the beach on the West End to check out the beach re-nourishment. Beach Re-nourishment is accomplished by a large barge named Marge (not really) that sits off shore and dredges sand from the bottom of the ocean and pumps it through large pipes to the beach where it is moved by bulldozers. The sand is a little darker than the white sand our visitors are used to but the sun quickly bleaches it to white.
